Educational Garden
It is an ongoing project set to begin in February 2009.
What is an Educational Garden?
An educational garden is an outdoor classroom that is set in a living/working garden. It is a place where children can learn about science, math, ecology, language arts, economics and even social studies. It can inspire writer’s workshops, art projects, nutrition awareness and can increase their hands-on science exploration.
An educational garden sets the stage for discovery learning, for questioning, problem solving and creating hypotheses. It can also teach children responsibility, cooperation, and a new appreciation for nature and ecology. They learn about environmental responsibility while cultivating their imagination and creating a wonderful and lasting educational experience.
Cotillion - for 4th & 5th graders
In the midst of our busy lives, only the rare household makes time to encourage social etiquette.
And only an unusual child is willing to accept social etiquette at home while the rest of the world is so casual.
Cotillion is a social skills education program. We teach children self-respect, respect for others, and self-confidence.
The program hones communication skills and teaches children to be comfortable in all types of social settings.
Mrs. Pottenger has taught Cotillion at the El Segundo Middle School since 2001.

Student Council
The fourth and fifth grade classes elect representatives to
the Student Council. These students learn leadership and organizational
skills as they meet monthly to plan school Spirit Days and special
events. They collect money for Unicef; sell candy-grams and Shamograms
to fund student council projects.
Jr. Paparazzi
The Jr. Paparazzi is a new club on campus. They work with Ms
Ashley, our technology teacher, to learn the latest in technology.
Many of the photos and the videos used in the special events
link of the website were taken by our club.
