Classrooms
The classrooms have just undergone
a complete modernization. Each room has an “ outdoor classroom “ for
teaching of hands-on lessons. Our rooms are bathed in sunlight
and each
room connect to another to facilitate our learning community.
Science Lab
With the generous help from our local Kiwanis Club and many Cougar families, Center Street School now has a science lab! Located in Room 10, this lab is used daily by our fourth and fifth grades as well as our “Out of the Box” and “Odyssey of the Mind” GATE groups. In this wonderful room, filled with all the needed tools, the mysteries of science are unlocked by the curious minds and clever hands of our resident scientists - - - our very own Cougar students!
Computer Lab
Every class visits the computer lab once a week. The lab has 32 HP Compaq computers with educational software and Internet connections. K – 2 students are instructed in Kid Pix, Word, and utilize Classworks which reinforces educational concepts they are getting in class. The 3 – 5 students all do keyboarding, Classworks, Publisher, Word, Excel and Power Point. In addition, the Jr. Paparazzi is learning more advanced technology programs such as making imovies.
Library
Our library is the center of the school. It is decorated in an “ Animals
of the Serengeti “ theme which is carried out in a beautiful
mural which is a gift of the Mattel Foundation. Outside of the
library is a stunning reading garden which is a gift of Rotary.
Literacy Lab
Our literacy lab is filled with over 25,000 books. The books are
organized by reading level to facilitate an individualized reading
program for each student. This room also is the location of our
reading intervention program taught by our Reading Specialist.
Music
Our music room is full of multicultural music and instruments.
Our students learn to read music, distinguish music from different
historical periods and sing.
