Ethnic Hate Video Games

As everybody knows, anything can be found on the Internet. We have encyclopedias, dictionaries, up to the minute news, quizzes, cartoons and so on. Though there are many good sources that are available on the Internet, there are still many websites out there that promote hate and violence. Lately there has been a steady rise in the number of ethnic hate video games to be found on the web.

One of the most notorious ones that can be found on the net is called Ethnic Cleansing, a video game whose founders brag that they have created the most politically incorrect video game. The person who is playing the game can play a member of the Ku Klux Klan and they are able to run through a ghetto while shooting and killing African-Americans. Along the way there are many other minorities whom they are supposed to kill. They try to get into a subway system where Jews are hiding and kill them also. Their ultimate goal is to kill Ariel Sharon, Prime Minister of Israel. All while doing this, there is white supremacist music playing in the background. The site that is selling the software is a distributor of white supremacist music and the game is reaching a moderate audience; they claim a yearly sale of $1.5 million.

Also while playing the game there is information available about the National Alliance, a group that believes that for racial survival whites must live in an exclusive white living space. The founder of the National Alliance, William Pierce, defends the game also. The people who created this game are relishing the spotlight that they are getting right now. The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) say that there isn’t a lot that can be done to stop this terrible web site from reaching more viewers. The people who created this software are exercising their first amendment right; this is also the same reason that the government can’t ban the KKK or any other supremacist group. The game is sold directly through the resistance web site, so there is even less power left in the hands of people who want to take it away. Even the software company doesn’t have direct involvement in the game and they don’t support it but nothing can be done to take this game away. The question here is, has our first amendment right gone too far? People should not be allowed to create games attacking people of different races, but hate laws aren’t even applicable to this heinous game. The reason hate laws can’t be applied is because clicking a mouse isn’t actually killing a person; it’s only a satire.

Another example of ethnic hate games that are reaching a wide audience are the Osama bin laden games and contests that have been splattered all over the Internet since September 11. Since then, wherever you look there are games in which the player is able to look for Osama bin laden and kill him. these games that are available online are very violent games and now people of the Islamic faith are being targeted. These people are being discriminated against and these games have contributed to the violence that has been inflicted on them.

The only thing that can be done is alert the public of this video game and other white power games that are available to purchase online. The Anti-Defamation League is now alerting the public starting with a press release in hopes that the “white power games” hosted on Yahoo’s briefcase would go away. Immediately they responded and the stored software was found to be empty.
