Crazy Food Ideas

People come up with the weirdest, craziest ideas for food. From ketchup on eggs to cheddar cheese on apple pie, there are just endless possibilities for food ideas. It is baffling to think that people can actually eat these abnormal food concoctions. Just last week my family and I went out to dinner and they gave us lollipops with our check. My sister dipped her lollipop in her soda and said it was the best thing she had ever tried. I tried this concoction and it was actually, to my surprise, not as bad as I would have thought. I realized that many of the things that people do with their food might actually taste great.

Over vacation, my friends and I went to lunch at Jonny Rockets. As we were looking at the menu, one of my friends pointed out the desert portion of the menu. As I looked down, I read, ‘Apple Pie with Cheddar Cheese’. My friends’ faces showed disgust. No one had the courage to try it, afraid that they might be wasting their money.  As we walked out, my friend bugged me about how disgusting it was and how people were crazy for even coming up with that idea. I thought to myself, ‘What if it wasn’t as horrible as my friend said it was?’

My father had told me about a nearby restaurant he had been to before where they served fried eggs on top of your hamburger. I know that sounds a little ‘abnormal’, but if we were to try it instead of judge it, it might actually be good. Even teenagers at this school have their own food concoctions at home. They may come to school and buy chips and soda, but in fact, at home they may eat different foods that no one would have ever thought of trying.

Another interesting food creation that I found out from my friend is peanut butter on eggs. She told me about this and I was disgusted. “Should I really try this?” I thought to myself. I guess that people have their own weird way of satisfying their hunger. Another food creation that sparked my mind was peanut butter on salad. My friend exclaims, “It is exactly like celery with peanut butter. Just, instead of celery, it’s another type of green, like lettuce.”

As far as cheddar cheese on the apple pie, I think that it has to be fairly decent. If someone put cheddar cheese on his or her apple pie and it became famous, it has to taste good. A ong time ago, when hamburgers became popular, everyone loved them. How did hamburgers become so popular? Nowadays, you can find hamburgers at any American fast food restaurant. The first person to make a hamburger simply had an idea, put it together, and people loved it. Obviously, if cheddar cheese on apple pie is featured in an All-American restaurant, like Jonny Rockets, certain people in the food department must have approved it.

Teenagers come up with new creations everyday. Freshman Sasha Crawford states, “I have made many food creations. My favorite creation is Oreo Cookies dipped in ranch dressing. Another one I made up a few years ago is a Pringle chip with peanut butter on it. After you have the peanut butter on the chip, you sprinkle Capri Sun powder on the peanut butter. It’s great!” Freshman Stevie Homeyer says, “My uncle makes Jello mixed with pretzels, cream cheese, Red Hots candy, and strawberries. It was very good.” Freshman Brent Bailey says, “The craziest food I have ever made was ketchup on ice cream.”  Freshman Jon Leonard remembers, “I have put cranberry sauce on my pizza, but without the tomato sauce.” Mrs. Brown says, “In England we ate everything with beets. We put beets on most of our food. I still eat beets on my food and love them so much that I will eat them by themselves."

Students, adults, and young children have made up food concoctions throughout their lives. Many of these food creations most likely taste great. We should try these crazy ideas and see how they taste. Whether or not we sit in disgust as we hear all these ideas, it’s still a good idea to taste them before you judge how horrible they are.
