Things are expensive. Entertainment prices in particular have
skyrocketed in the past years. It costs $10 to go to the movies now
excluding popcorn, candy, drinks, etc. It seems like we are losing money
because everything is becoming more expensive.
Amusement park prices are getting noticeably high. Disneyland and
Disney’s California Adventure cost $43 each. Six Flags Magic Mountain
costs $42.99 (1 cent cheaper than Disneyland!). Knott’s Berry Farm now
costs $40. After getting into the park of your choice, then you pay for
all the food and drinks which will cost you about $25, oh and don’t
forget about that parking fee which normally costs about $7. Add those all
together and you have just paid about $80 for one day (and that’s just
for one person)! *Helpful
Tip- Magic Mountain sells Season Passes for about $50 in the spring
(that’s only $7.01 more than one day). It comes with a book of all sorts
of discounts that include a free admission for a friend and a free
admission to Hurricane Harbor.
Sporting Events are almost as bad. To go to a Lakers game at
Staples Center it will cost you about $40 for reasonable seats. Then add
the price of parking and food and you are almost paying as much as you
would to go to an amusement park. On the other hand, the Dodgers only cost
as much as the parking at Staples. Then there are always the Clippers.
Concert tickets are getting higher every year. The cheapest tickets
for Linkin Park are $29.50 and they are Balcony seats (nosebleed section).
The cheapest tickets available for the ever so inspirational Neil Diamond
are priced at $67.50. Many people don’t have a problem with the prices. For
instance, Sophomore Brian Gonzales says, “I don’t think they are very
expensive”. Some people might not want to buy tickets for $50 but for
the die-hard fans who sleep outside of the ticket booths the night before
tickets go on sell; it is well worth it.
With movies now costing about $10 wait ONLY 6 months to see the
movie of your choice and go down to the $1 movie theatre. Most theatres
also have student prices which are around $7. I’m still amazed at how I
pay the same price for food as I did to get in. *Another Helpful Tip-If
you have a large group, buy the enormous-ridiculous-extra-extra-large
bucket of popcorn. Most theatres will allow you to refill it. Bring little
bags, or something, fill them up with your popcorn and then go back to
refill your bucket. |
