Is Trick-or-Treating to Cool For You?

We still want all the candy Halloween trick-or-treating brings, but we might feel a little uncomfortable walking around town dressed up as Superman.  Aside from wrecked braces, rotting teeth, and those ten extra pounds, we wonder what all the cool people do on Halloween?  Here are ten options … to save ourselves from the embarrassment of watching our peers push little kids out of the way at the houses with King Size candy bars! If trick-or-treating is not cool enough for you, or you’re just too old to climb up and down every hill in El Segundo, let us give you some ideas for something more interesting to do on Halloween night.

1.      Create your own haunted house, but put together a theme like, “blood sucking surfers”

2.      Go in costume to one of those weird palm readers in Venice Beach or Hollywood.

3.      DING-DONG-DITCH your neighbors who constantly complain about your loud music.

4.      Go on a “Midnight Mission” to El Porto.

5.      Watch a scary movie and pig out on your little sister’s candy.

6.      Show up with a ‘sixer’ (rootBEER) to Mr. Bufano’s house and ask, “Where’s the party?”

7.      Throw a costume party, add something to the punch, and pretend to know nothing about it.

8.      Go work out at the Gym, but show up dressed as the Cookie Monster, and give everyone a big chocolate-chip cookie.

9.      Volunteer to work, but wear a costume…a little extra money never hurts.

10.  Finally, best of all, go to your ex’s house and relocate his/her pumpkins.

Well, some of these alternatives may seem a bit lame, but it beats taking your younger sibling trick-or-treating in El Segundo.  These are only ten ideas that could keep you busy this Halloween.  Stay out of trouble and try to have fun at the same time.  Halloween is traditionally a time for the town’s ‘mischief-makers’ to let loose. This Halloween, Seniors Matt Roberts and Nicole Pena plan to, “wear saran-wrap costumes and Jack-o’-lanterns on our heads while trick-or-treating!” Whatever you choose to do this very special night, remember to keep it as legal as possible and stay safe.
