Economy

In the past weeks there has been a tremendous decrease in the number of people who travel, go to work in elevated towers, and ride buses. These fears have affected the economic system of America. President Bush recently went to speak with the New York business leaders to find ways to improve the nation’s troubled economy. There were encouraging words that he spoke to the representatives. Bush said, “We will not succumb to this evil”. We believe in the American promise and we will do everything to build on that promise”. President Bush believes that the American economy will go back to normal. He has called for new round of tax cuts for individuals and he’s going to give aid to the people who lost their jobs due to the September 11 attacks. Sara Vargas said,  “I think the economy will go down because of all the September 11 tragedy.” Federal Reserve chairman, Alan Greenspan said,  “There are already signs the initial shock from the attack is wearing off.” Greenspan acknowledges the U.S. economy will suffer.

What’s been benefiting the American economy for the last twenty years is that Airline tickets and air traffic has become something that’s available for ordinary people. The airline industry is doing what it can to boost the American economy. It is doing everything from lowering airfare tickets to strengthening airline and airport security. Craig Gast said,  “I think over the next few years, the American economy will survive as long as the industries can convince people not to be scared, by offering low airfare tickets and continuing to boost up security.” But the airline industry isn’t the only one affected. The supermarkets report decreased numbers of consumers. Restaurants in Disneyland are closed due to decreased attendance

Of course there has been worse economic times through the history of the United States, like the depression and experts say that our economy is not heading to a depression but it will if we don’t start to maintain the normal life that we used to live, so the next time before you start complaining about paying taxes think: if we pay our taxes we don't know where it's going to go but who knows maybe we just saved our economy.

We are in a recession, which means that all the businesses and industries are declining. That means that we a re losing money due to the tragic events of September 11. The recession can last six to two years depending on future events. Junior Amy Thornton said, “I think the economy will go up because of holiday shopping.” The American economy is at a low. But as Franklin Delano Roosevelt said, “We have nothing to fear but fear itself.”
