The
boy’s soccer team has started their season off with a bang. The Eagles
have a great starting line-up as many of their starters from last year are
returning to play for the Eagles. Seniors Omar Abdelshife, Julio Galvan,
Sebastian Decarlo and Travis Cantor lead the Eagles in their pursuit of
CIF qualification this season. The seniors are backed by the talents of
Juniors Matt Robinson, Kent Krumbach, and Jeff Gardner. In their first game of the season the Eagles faced a fierce Gardena team. The Eagles played an extremely aggressive game with Matt Robinson receiving a yellow card for his aggressive play. The Eagles played with a strong starting line-up facing Gardena. Omar Abdelshife, Julio Galvan, and Oscar Galvan played awesome offense to boost the Eagles to victory. They were backed by mid-fielders Jorge Gutierrez, Matt Robinson, Kent Krumbach, and Chris Stonerock. Gardena had the first goal of the game, but they could not celebrate for long as the Eagles railed back with two goals. The first goal was made by Oscar Galvan and assisted by Jorge Gutierrez. The second goal was scored by Sebastian Decarlo and assisted by Matt Robinson. Gardena was not to be taken out of the game so early, and scored their second goal in the third quarter tying the game at two. The outstanding defense of Ryan Green, Jeff Gardner, and Travis Cantor would not allow another goal to be scored. This tight defense allowed Junior Matt Robinson to score with the assist by Oscar Galvan for the win late in the game. This goal clenched the unpredicted victory for the Eagles. With the talent that the eagles have this season CIF playoffs are an achievable goal. Junior Matt Robinson is looking forward to CIF play already, “Students can by their tickets in advance for the CIF Championship.” The Eagle’s boy’s soccer team is sure to achieve the expectations that they set for themselves this season if they continue to play tough throughout the season.
