Girls' Soccer

The girls' soccer season has ended. They experienced a transitional year because they were forced to rebuild their team after having lost many key players to graduation last year. Many valuable players, such as Krysta Caingcoy, Holly Lipscomb, Katrina Crokchank, Keely Starr, and their star goalie Tabitha McCullough, all graduated. Because they lost all of these players, this year's team was made up mainly of sophomores. The team was extremely talented, but because of their inexperience, all of the talent that they had didn't really gel.

This season's main offensive players were Elizabeth Lopez (center forward), Randi Bundi (left forward), Kelly Walton (center halfback), C'lesa Lyons (right forward), and Briana Spagnuolo(right forward). Senior Alexandra Ramos was also a key offensive player. Walton and sophomore Randi Bundy also helped the team a lot on defense. Senior Anne Foster Keddie, who played stopper, was the highlight of the defensive squad. Overall, the defense ended up being the weak point for the team because they weren't able to find a regular goalie. The team rotated three goalies, and by the end of the season, Maggie Fogarty began to fill the roll consistently which helped out a lot.

But it was too little too late and El Segundo ended up finishing fourth out of seven teams with a final record of 7-7. Redondo ended up first in league, but their success can be attributed to the large amount of seniors they had. Next year they will be losing a large chunk of their team, and that will give El Segundo a chance to become a dominant force in the league as our team comes into its stride. Beverly Hills and Culver City were also tough teams this season, and they will be admirable foes next season.
