The Girls' Volleyball team is doing great as they head into the beginning of the second round of league play. The ladies have shown great skill and athleticism in competition thus far this season. They have fought hard and have shown great improvement throughout the first half of the season. With leaders such as Natasha Nguyen, Amber Korner, and Gemma Gaudio the Eagles have accomplished much of what they've set out to accomplish this season. The lady Eagles are currently in fourth place in the Ocean League, but are expected to improve in their ranking by the end of the season. "The teams that we have played have been a challenge for us, but we are ready to take on the challenge and beat them!" "says Senior Amber Korner. The ladies opened league play with a win against Redondo in a hard fought five game match. Natasha Nguyen led the Eagles with 30 kills and 10 digs, while Senior Anne Foster-Keddie had 21 kills and 17 digs. Gemma Gaudio had 12 blocks for the lady Eagles. Next, the Eagles played Claremont, JW North, and Hemet in the Claremont Volleyball tournament. The Eagles took home first place after outstanding play in all of their games. League play continued for the Eagles with two losses against nationally ranked Mira Costa. The Eagles then faced a strong South Torrance team and lost in a hard fought five game match. The Eagles faced West Torrance at home and beat them handily in three straight sets. Next, the Eagles faced the tough Peninsula team and fought hard, but came up short losing in three games. The lady Eagles have had a great season so far and they hope to achieve more in the second half of their season. Senior Amber Korner says," We've had our ups and downs this season, but we are working hard so that we can end the season strong." |
