The 2007 season for the El Segundo Track & Field Team ended on Saturday, May 19, culminating in an appearance at the CIF Southern Section Division Finals Track Meet at Cerritos College. El Segundo competed against more than one hundred other teams in Division 3; the Girls Varsity ended with a strong 33rd place ranking, and the Boys Varsity finished with a 29th place title.

Two El Segundo athletes made it to the CIF Finals meet: senior Brent Marcelis and freshman Allison
Reaser. Unfortunately, neither competitor was able to advance to the CIF Masters Meet. Although Marcelis and Reaser were the only two from ESHS to make it to the CIF Finals round, they were among eight other athletes to go to the CIF Preliminary Round at Warren High School in Downey.

Marcelis did an excellent job in the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes, earning respective 5th and 6th place titles. In the 100m dash, Marcelis ran a 10.91, and he earned a 22.59 in the 200m dash. Reaser did a tremendous job as well, earning two 7th place titles for the Long Jump and the 300m Low
Hurdles. Her distance in the Long Jump was 17’˝”, and her time for the 300m Low Hurdles was 45.55 seconds.

Congratulations to Marcelis and Reaser and the rest of the 2007 Track team, and good luck to next years’
team!
