M Is For Mama D's
By Claudia Rebora, Staff Writer

Near the corner of Manhattan Beach Blvd. and Highland, to the right of Diane’s stands Mama D’s. This tiny, homey, Italian restaurant can’t help but make you want to come back for more is one of those places where you feel right at home.
As you enter this tiny family owned restaurant you are approached right away by a friendly server who knows all the regulars by name. As you sit down, some fresh Italian bread is brought to your table along with their home made garlic oil dipping sauce that makes your mouth water for more. With a broad choice for food on their menu, making your choice is quite difficult. On one side of the menu you can choose from different types of pasta and sauce which you combine to your own liking. Personally, angel hair and meat mushroom sauce is good enough for me.
The true way to determine a “good” restaurant from an “eh” restaurant is the refill test. Is your server is truly paying attention to your needs? Does she notice when your glass is nearly empty? Does he come right away to fill it up your glass? Mama D’s servers passed this test with flying colors.  When my root beer glass was nearing empty r they came right away and filled it to my liking.
Overall this restaurant gets an A+. They get this grade on passing the three G’s. Great service, great food, and great refills!
