Boys Volleyball
By Lauren Stabile, Editor

There is a new member to the Pioneer League this season as El Segundo High School proudly fields their first boys’ volleyball team.  Led by Rick Arce, coach of the girls’ volleyball team, the boys are sure to have an outstanding season.  Though there have been no league matches, the Eagles faced West Torrance at home on March 16.  In front of roaring crowds, the team rose to the occasion, quickly scoring around 20 points in each match.  However, the team could not maintain the momentum as West Torrance slowly gained more ground.  In the end, El Segundo won 3 out of 5 games and the team is ecstatic to be on the court this season; as senior Cameron Garlitos commented, “I love playing volleyball…we played our hearts out and everyone gave 110%.”  The team did well against West, for this is the first organized volleyball league that many of the players have participated in.  Good luck to boys’ volleyball!
