Measure Q Is It The Right One For You?
by James Chow, Staff Writer

Imagine pulling up to a brand new parking lot, facing a shimmering pool. As you walk out of your car, a rebuilt football field with matching bleachers greet you. Measure Q, the latest bond presented by The Board Of Trustees Of El Segundo Unifies School District if passed, will bring about the next and lst phase of modernization in the school district.
This process will cost an estimated 19 million dollars, with 66% expected to be paid by business. This tax will extend the current bonds an additional five years, from 2027 to 2032. The construction will consist of a rebuilding of a two level auditorium, that will consist of an entrance on the first and second floors, as well as a new lobby on the first floor, new orchestra pit, and upgraded sound and lighting system.
The aquatic sports would swim into the new facilities located behind the present gym. One pool will be 35 meters by 25 yard, that will be used for water polo practice and matches and an additional  six-lane pool that will be used for lap swimming. recreational swimming, lessons and warmups. There will also be additional lockers and showers constructed for student and community use. And what every soccer and football player has been waiting will be an artificial-turf field. For the runners, a new all-weather track consisting of a new generation synthetic surface which will cut maintenance costs and provide a year long useable surface. New bathrooms and handy cap accessible bleachers with a capacity of 2,500 will also be added.
But what will this mean for us? The seniors currently attending will not even see the end results. Many of us did not even know about this new proposal until we saw the booth at the Richmond street Faire. One senior, Brittany Crawford proclaimed "It doesn't really affect me so don't really care."  Others find this as a chance to help the community, Kim Ip said, "I really think that it will benefit the community."  Either way many students are looking foreword toward these new improvements.
