Eagles Have a Bad Kickoff Game
by Andrew Gen, Cartoonist/Staff Writer

It was a disappointing loss for the Eagles on Friday, September 8, 2006 against the West Torrance Warriors. A shutout score of 0-60 was humiliating for the Eagles coach Steve Shevlin. The Eagles offensively ran the ball 10 times for zero yards. Quarterback senior Mike Quinones completed 11/25 passes for a total 120 yards and threw one interception. On the brighter side, some new faces on the varsity team showed up, like sophomore Kevin Post completed 3 passes for 22 yards and sophomore Joey Schaffhauser completed 2 passes for 37 yards, while returning senior, Travonn Smith, completed 3 passes for a total of 19 yards. Smith also had a 63 yard kickoff return later in the game. Senior Andrew Pelc who had a total of 9 tackles for was a standout player in defense. It was a difficult season opener for the Eagles and fans look for improvement in their next game.
The team will hopefully overcome this loss and become victorious in later season. With some new players and some old ones, they can hopefully do better than last year.
