I’m Going to Sex You Up
Kyle Veremans
Sex is the love making between two
partners. So why are some men considered to be “players” or “studs,” which is
looked at as a positive while some women are considered to be “sluts” or
“hoes,” which is looked at as a negative? When a man meets a woman, or a man
meets a man, or a woman meets a woman they can fall in love. If both partners
are willing they may express their love by having sexual intercourse. So why is
there a discrepancy in sexual reputations? Sophomore Nicole Acosta said,
“Unfortunately, I think it improves a man’s social status. Men think sex is all
a game to look cool, and most men have forgot about the intimacy.” Some
partners have sex for the pleasure. This would be fine in an equal society but
in America, straight men are praised for fulfilling their craving for sex, yet
straight women are frowned upon for fulfilling the same craving.
Many members of the female sex are
afraid of intercourse. They live in fear of being called a slut or a hoe so they
become “prudes.” Either way women are being labeled in a negative way. If a man
isn’t having sex then people assume there is something wrong with him. So, it
is good for men to have sex and bad for them to not have sex. Women are frowned
upon for not having sex and even more frowned upon for having sex.
Women are traditionally supposed to keep their
virginity sacred, but in the twenty-first century women deserve to be as free
as men. Sophomore Jennifer Thompson said, “I want to wait until I am in
love, and at my age, it is ridiculous.” Women can do whatever they choose to do
with their body as well as their minds, because this is a civilized society
where men and women deserve to be treated like humans, not groups. People have
to be seen for who they are, not what they do with their bodies.
There is too much pride in
sexual activities for men. Although this is isn’t true for all men. Senior Rick
Rivera said, “Sex is a wonderful thing that should be done by two people
that are meant for each other at the perfect time.” Remember that it is
something that many of us do sooner or later and there is no difference between
man and woman before or after sexual intercourse.
