Mr. Dave Lubs, Principal
Mr. Dave Lubs, Principal of ESMS, is a native of El Segundo. He attended elementary, middle and high school and is quite familiar with the history of this great community. From El Segundo High School, he went on to the University of California at San Diego where he played baseball for four years and received his B.A. in Political Science and minored in Philosophy and Sociology. Mr. Lubs wanted the reward of working with children and to return to his community, so he attended CSU, Dominguez Hills to obtain his teaching credential. He was hired at El Segundo High School, where he taught Social Studies for eight years. In his last couple of years, Mr. Lubs pursued his MBA at the Anderson School at UCLA. Although he had a brief stint in a business partnership, he came back to education assuming the Assistant Principal position at ESMS for 2.5 years, until he was recently assigned to position of Principal. Mr. Lubs is married to his beautiful wife Jessica and has three lovely children.
Ms. Renée DeVore, Assistant Principal
Ms. Renée DeVore, Assistant Principal, grew up in the Northwest. An avid soccer player, she continued her athletic career at Washington State and then moved on to play at Southern New Hampshire University. It was there that she received her B.S. in English Education. Ms. DeVore moved back to the Northwest to begin her teaching career working in a continuation school for three years. She moved to San Diego, where her first teaching position was working with 1st-7th grade Special Education in a non-public school. From Special Education, she moved to a secondary school teaching 7th and 11th grade English. She has developed programs for at-risk students, taught pre-International Baccalaureate, AP/Honors English and AVID. In her last position at Mission Bay High School in San Diego, CA, Ms. DeVore taught AVID, 9th grade English and was the Small Learning Communities Coordinator. She graduated with her M.A. in Educational Leadership from San Diego State University and is currently in her first year as Assistant Principal.
