MESSAGE FROM OUR PRINCIPAL

Dear Richmond Street Families,

I hope everyone had a happy and restful winter break.  I would like to thank Mrs. Baldino for another series of outstanding Winter Concerts.  Our students do a fabulous job under her leadership.  We will not be able to hold our annual Spring Concert this year as Mrs. Baldino is expecting her second child in May.  We wish the Baldino family the best of luck as they anxiously await their new arrival and we anxiously await Mrs. Baldino’s return in September.

The El Segundo Educational Foundation is planning a “Boost Your School” fund raiser.  The Educational Foundation has contributed to the El Segundo School District in so many important ways over the past years.  The Foundation has supported the Arts, donated computers, made a wide area network possible, and much more.  Their pledge is to Foster Excellence in Education in our schools.  The Foundation hopes we can get at least 50% of our families to contribute $25 tax-deductible donation or more to the Foundation.  If you have already donated $25 or more since July 1, 2006 your donation will be counted.  Richmond Street will receive $2,500 if we reach this goal.  This money will be used towards a new playground below our basketball courts.  A letter will be sent home to each family explaining this important program in more detail.

On behalf of the Richmond Street staff, I wish you and your families a Happy and Healthy 2007!

Sincerely,

Dickie Van Breene

MESSAGE FROM OUR PTA PRESIDENT

Welcome Back to All!  I hope your holiday break was filled with family and fun.  Before I go any further, huge thanks yous are in order to Laura Nilsson, Brenda Forsythe and Michelle Leach for the amazing job that they and their committee members did on our annual Book Fair.  The Book Fair was the most successful yet and thanks also to all of our parents and friends that came out to support it. Family Night was great fun and the hamburgers and hot dogs prepared by the 5th Grade class were delicious!

With school back in session, there are still many ways to volunteer to help at school.  The work room crew is always looking for more volunteers to help with classroom projects.  Teacher Appreciation Week is coming up in the Spring as is Founder's Day.  The best way to keep Richmond Street a fantastic school is by getting involved.  You can make a difference.

Our PTA meeting is Monday, Jan. 8th at 7:15 pm and we look forward to seeing many new faces!
