MESSAGE FROM OUR PRINCIPAL

Dear Richmond Street Families,

The end of the year is upon us.  I would like to thank each one of you for your support throughout the year.  We have an outstanding program at Richmond Street School, due in large part to our wonderful parents.  I would also like to thank our PTA President, Tammy Long, and her talented executive board.  We are so fortunate to have such a dedicated, hard working and supportive PTA.  I would also like to thank our School Site Council Parent Representatives: Chairperson, Shari Gulian; Beth Stoker, Sheila Miller, Laura Nilsson, and Darcy Fulmer.

I would also like to thank the many businesses that contribute to our school, the El Segundo Educational Foundations for its generosity, and the school board and district personnel for their support.  Thank you to our wonderful staff of teachers, instructional assistants, office personnel, custodians, noon supervisors, librarians, crossing guards, and cafeteria workers.  Each day these people work very hard to ensure that each child receives an excellent education.

I wish you all a safe, relaxing and joyful summer.  I look forward to seeing you back in September and to those of you who are moving on, I wish you the best of luck.

Sincerely,

Dickie Van Breene

MESSAGE FROM OUR PTA PRESIDENT

Wow, June already!  This year has just flown by.  It would take a year of Blues News to thank all of the parents who made this school year so great so I will try to condense it but please indulge me a little.  I need to say one huge thank you to my Executive Board.  All the work you do behind the scenes is amazing and so appreciated!  I would like to add special kudos to my work room coordinator, Nan Rados and each and every parent who worked in the work room this year to make our classrooms run smoothly, a true, heartfelt thank you.  You must know how much the teachers appreciate your hard work. To all of the committee chairpeople and your committee members, THANK YOU for a great year....  Membership, Fall Festival, Book Fair, Teacher Appreciation, Run for Education, Reflections, Founders Day, Room Moms and Grade Reps, Health and Welfare, Computer Input, Box Tops, ROAD, Nominating, School Site, T-Shirt Sales, Inkjet Recycling, Ralphs and especially Shari Gulian who works tirelessly on our Blues News and website....there are so many people who help PTA run smoothly.  I am so honored to be involved in PTA, especially at Richmond Street School.

Just to let you know how some of this hard work has paid off this year, PTA has gifted to the school money for new computers in the computer lab and paid for next year's field trips.

This year we are offering Back to School packs that you can order now for next year's school supplies.  Look for the order form that is coming home with your child.  Our fundraising Vice President, Brandy Smith has worked with our teachers to be sure that each kit includes the correct supplies for each grade level.

Again, thank you for a great year and I can wait to see how next year can top it!  Have a great summer.

Tammy Long

school supply packs for Fall 2007

For the first time, Richmond Street PTA is offering parents the option to buy all their school supplies for next year in one convenient package.   To order simply go to www.buyschoolstuff.com and enter our school number: 118959.  Choose the appropriate grade level for the 2007-2008 school year and pay by credit card.  Your order will come straight to your house 2-3 weeks before school starts.  You will be billed when your order ships.  It’s really that easy!

The sale is open until June 22nd and a portion of the sale will benefit Richmond Street School.  The purchase of these “back-to-school packs” is optional and you are welcome to purchase back to school materials in your own way.  Richmond will also receive a donation if you choose to buy the materials at Office Depot or Target and if you give them our school name at one of these stores. The required supplies can be found on the RSS website.  If you have any questions feel free to call Brandy Smith at 310-615-1944.
