Educational research has indicated that reading with your child is one of the most important activities you can engage in to increase your child's literacy abilities. Below is an explanation of the typical homework you will see this year in Kindergarten. |
| Official Kindergarten Homework Policy |
Language Arts: Please read with your child 15 minutes each night for a total of 60 minutes each week. Please use the monthly comprehension focus information as you read. Fill out the Reading Rocket form as you read. Have your child bring the form in when you and your child have read 10 books. Your child will get to move their rocket each time they read 10 books.

Comprehension Focus for the Month:
September and October: Concepts of Print
May and June: Compare/Contrast
Math: Homelinks: Each week, students are required to complete the homelink. Homelinks are not typically paper and pencil tasks, but more things the child does at home. Most objects needed for the lessons will be objects you already have around you house. For example, students will count pennies, or steps, or the number of doors you have in the house. It is important that you as the parent write a brief note on the homelink page indicating what you child did with this activity, how they enjoyed it, or what they struggled with.
