Homework Information Homework packets will be given out, in folders, each Friday. They will include work that is either directly related to material we will be working on in class during the week or work that reinforces concepts previously covered in class. Each packet will include a cover sheet with specific directions for the week as well as any special information I may have to share with parents. In the homework packet you will find “The Reading Link” page. Among other suggested activities, this page contains the sight words that correspond to the story in our literature series for the week. Please create flashcards from these words and keep them in a safe place to practice each day. Practicing these words often will help your child in reading and comprehending the weekly story. They will be quizzed on these words on Fridays. They should be able to read them but do not have to spell them. Among other things, there is also a Reading Log included each week in the homework packet. Please record the books that were read each night. It is vitally important to read each day with your child. It can include you reading to them or them reading to you. Both are acceptable. Math Home Links - specific pages due for the week can be found on your teacher's weekly newsletter. These pages go with the Math we are working on that week. It would be best to complete one of these each night in order to reinforce the day’s lesson. Please tear them out of the book and return those assigned with the rest of the homework on Friday. The completed homework packet should be returned to school, in their folders, on Friday mornings. Please try to keep the folder as clean and neat as possible. If you lose it, you will need to replace the folder. Please remember that homework is a school policy and is used to reinforce skills learned in school and to encourage independent study habits for your child. Thank you for your support in helping your child develop life long study skills.
